As you already know, the Academy introduces kids to the exciting world of film production through one and two-week programs offered during the summer months in the Greater Portland and Greater Boston areas. At the Academy, kids have a chance to express themselves both in front of the camera as actors and “behind the scenes” as directors, producers and more, as they learn how movies are made and create their very own movies. Whether or not they choose to continue their filmmaking careers, participants will learn many practical life lessons in a fun, creative, collaborative and supportive environment.
So, why should any young, aspiring filmmaker, especially from a low to middle income family, be denied this kind of an opportunity? They shouldn't. And that's where the New England Film Academy Foundation and its Scholarship Fund comes in. Through the Foundation's efforts, more and more kids from low to middle income families are able to experience the creative world of filmmaking - scholarships are the major reason over 25% of our campers have not been turned away because of financial constraints and have received assistance in bridging the financial gap.
In addition, we also offer a Filmmaker of Tomorrow Scholarship which is awarded to a graduate of the Academy wishing to continue their filmmaking education at the college level. You can find out more information about both our scholarships below. If you would like to make a contribution to the Foundation's Scholarship Fund please .
We understand that the taking part in our summer camp programs may be cost prohibitive for some. That is why we are committed to making our programs accessible to as many aspiring filmmakers and actors as possible through the Scolarship Fund of the New England Film Academy Foundation.
We have established a scholarship fund to provide a number of partial scholarships to all of our programs. Scholarships are based on need and are on a first come, first serve basis to those demonstrating financial need. We encourage applying even if you think you may not qualify. Recipients will be chosen by the Scholarship Committee of the New England Film Academy.Download The Scholarship Application Form.
The Filmmakers of Tomorrow Scholarship was established in 2006 by the New England Film Academy Foundation. One of the highest priorities of the New England Film Academy, and the Foundation, is to expand and improve opportunities for the young aspiring filmmakers in Maine. Beginning with the class of 2006, the scholarship award is in the amount of $500. The focus of the Academy and the Foundation has always been, and continues to be, assisting graduates of the Academy in continuing their film education at institutions of higher learning.
Recipients will be chosen by the Scholarship Committee of the New England Film Academy. Recipients will be chosen from applications submitted by eligible students based on the following criteria:
No one criterion is more important than another. The Scholarship Committee carefully weighs all aspects of a student’s application.
